My name is Danny Carney and I have been playing the trumpet for 45 years which include teaching and learning from the best teachers. I first heard the trumpet sound when I was 5 years old and from that moment I just knew that that is what I really want. One of my exiting days in my life was at the age 10 when my father bought me my first golden "Selmer" trumpet.
Unfortunately for me, as a child and a teenager I had unprofessional teachers and I was one of those highly frustrated young players with a great sound and musical talent but with a major problem of low endurance. I couldn't play for long. I constantly used to listen to Trumpet records, buying every record (the old discs) I could find, and playing together with them when I was alone at home.
I managed to accumulate what I considered to be the best selection of trumpet players: Al Hirt, Eddie Calvert, Harry James, Himy Bellson, Maurice Andre, Louis Armstrong, Maynard Fergusson and others.
At the age of 22 after several years of not playing, I took on a philharmonic trumpet player professional teacher who got me to start form the beginning. Just like in anything in life, getting rid
of bad habits is more difficult than starting on something new. I worked hard for 2 years!
On almost a daily basis with taking lessons every 2-3 weeks (you can imagine how expensive they were).
After recovering and reaching a high playing level I devoted several years teaching and now, 43 years after my first tone production I finally decided to get going and help anyone - from adults to children, from "almost players" to advanced players, by preparing this Trumpet learning kit, so anyone can just do it right. What I did not tell you yet is that Trumpet playing has been my hobby now for many years - not as my profession.
This gives me a much better understanding of anyone who wants to play or to improve playing, Because most trumpet players get it right by nature and are not always aware of hoe to teach what they do, This is what gives it the special flavor! And believe me, in playing a Brass instrument and mainly the Trumpet there is such a wide variety of tone, technique and sound that if you really want to enjoy your playing, you must get it right from the beginning.
I want to encourage you to get the kit, practice hard and Enjoy.
